Pleione maculata is a species native to Yunnan province of China, Assam India, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. It is an epiphytic orchid that grows on the branches and trunks of large trees, as well as on the ground. This orchid comprises pseudobulbs that range in shape from various development stages. Their leaves are always found in pairs. Solitary, erect flowers emerge from the base of the pseudobulb. We will be shipping the plants without any leaves. 
This Pleione is commonly called 'Indian or Nepalese Crocuses' or 'window-sill orchids' are a horticultural important group of autumn and spring flowering plants. Pleione orchids are small terrestrial or epiphytic orchids that can be seen growing in the wild. Pleione maculata is a high-demand orchid with several uses as an aesthetic plant valued for its attractive bloom, a parent for hybridization to create new varieties. 

Short drop shaped, maroon-greenish pseudobulbs, these plants arrived to us without any medium so they do not have any roots. This species prefer about 50%-70% shade and should not be placed in full sun.

Ever since we had seen these orchids in bloom in the Netherlands, it was on the wishlist & now we could procure them.
