Description

Rhynchostylis Gigantea White or alba is a species orchid. Lovely white tapering inflorescence. Pure white forms of Rhy. gigantea have been awarded as both var. alba, and var. petotiana. Flowers are pearl white, the spike looks beautiful as the flowers arise closely on the spike. The flowers have a spicy fragrance. 

These orchids are all epiphytic. They do not like any potting medium. Vanda orchid must not be allowed to dry out entirely. Watering of this vandaceous species must be done with care to prevent water from remaining in the crowns (top leaves), a condition that can cause crown rot. Watering should be regular, every day, allow the roots to dry a bit between watering. A continuous and strong air movement around the roots is very important for proper growth.
