Dendrobium Care Guide

Dendrobium orchids can be grown as indoor plants as long as they get a sufficient amount of light & air circulation.

  Light

This plant prefers bright indirect light, but can tolerate medium indirect light. Plants grown under ideal light will have apple green leaves and plants which are not getting enough light will have dark green leaves. Learn more about light here

 Watering

In Coconut Husk medium water retention is more compared to Pine Bark, so plants in Coconut Husk may require once in 2-3 days watering compared to 1-2 days watering in Pine Bark.  Medium may dry faster or slower depending on the weather conditions. So always touch and feel the medium, only when partially dry water the plant.  Learn more about watering here

Fertilizing

Fertilizing your orchid regularly provides it with the nutrients it needs for optimal health, immunity and vigorous blooming. Weekly once with Bio-20 or Basfoliar 19:19:19 for growth and rooting. Once a month with Basfoliar 13-40-13. Learn more about fertilizing here

The Dendrobium Caesar 4N is a magnificent, highly sought-after hybrid orchid prized in the orchid community for its unique genetic and visual traits. Known universally as a perfect "beginner's orchid" due to its incredibly easy-to-grow and hardy nature, this variety produces beautiful, long multiple spikes packed with large, fragrant blossoms. Growing into a very bushy and tall plant, it makes a luxurious, visually captivating statement piece for any home, bright office, or orchid collection.

✨ Flower Specialties

  • Tetraploid Strength: The "4N" designation indicates it possesses four sets of chromosomes. This advanced genetic trait rewards you with thicker petals, stronger stems, and significantly larger blooms than standard orchids.

  • Antelope-Type Horns: Inheriting a unique "antelope" silhouette from its parent Dendrobium stratiotes, the top petals are elegantly twisted and stand upright like animal horns.

  • Vibrant Bi-Colour: Displays a striking, high-contrast palette featuring snow-white centers paired with rich pink or deep magenta tips.

  • Intense Jasmine Fragrance: The large flowers fill your space with a delightful, beautiful jasmine fragrance.

  • Extreme Longevity & Abundance: Due to its heavy petal substance, individual flowers can remain fresh on the plant for 6 to 8 weeks. Mature canes are highly floriferous, producing multiple flower spikes simultaneously several times throughout the year.

🪴 Comprehensive Care Guide

  • ☀️ Light & Placement: Provide 10 to 12 hours of bright, filtered, indirect sunlight daily. It requires more light than a standard Phalaenopsis to trigger frequent blooming. Avoid direct, intense afternoon sun to prevent scorched leaves and permanent black spots.

  • 💧 Watering Protocol: Water heavily during the active spring and summer growing season, allowing the potting medium to dry out a bit between waterings. Flush water thoroughly through the pot for 1–2 minutes in the morning so the foliage dries before nightfall. Reduce watering slightly during cooler winter months.

  • 🌡️ Temperature & Humidity: Thrives in warm tropical environments with ideal daytime temperatures between 24°C and 36°C, dropping to 18°C to 22°C at night. Maintain high humidity levels between 50% and 70%.

  • 🌬️ Air Movement: Keep a gentle fan running nearby. Consistent, gentle ambient air circulation is essential to prevent fungal and bacterial rot in humid conditions.
