Perreiraara Bangkok Star is a vanda-type orchid hybrid, created by crossing Prra. Bangkok Sunset with Aerides houlletiana. It features striking orange to peach blooms accented by a lavender lip. The red speckles on its leaves result from anthocyanin pigment, produced when the plant receives ample sunlight—this natural response protects the plant and is harmless. When grown in bright light, vanda and cattleya orchids tend to flower more quickly. The flowers are thick, waxy, and emit a lemon-spice fragrance. Their long-lasting yellow and reddish-purple hues form dense, three-dimensional clusters with no gaps between blooms.

These orchids are all epiphytic. They do not like any potting medium. Vanda orchids must not be allowed to dry out entirely. Saturate the roots with water overtime you water, that means the roots should turn green and retain a drop of water at the tip. Watering of these Vandas must be done with care to prevent water from remaining in the crowns ( top leaves), a condition that can cause crown rot.
