Psychopsis Mariposa is a hybrid of Psychopsis papilio × Psychopsis Kalihi. As the flowers resemble a butterfly, this genus of orchids is called butterfly orchid. A sequential blooming orchid, which has been known to flower for almost 18 months. Each flower will last around 1 month, then drop off to be followed by another one within the following 4 weeks. The pseudobulbs are clustered, oval, very compressed, wrinkled, and often dull red. The leaves are single and erect. Inflorescences are normally solitary per bulb, arising from the base. Never cut the inflorescence until it is dried up as old inflorescences will continue to produce flowers.
